Nick's Birthday

Today is Nick's 40th birthday. I had been planning a long weekend away for him to Alice Springs however that all fell by the wayside when I asked him "So where is the one place in Australia you would not want to go?" "Hmmmmm thats a tough one.........I don't have much interest in visiting Alice Springs especially as it is now politically incorrect to climb the rock." says Nick. I won't tell you the thoughts that went through my head!

He was however very specific about what he wanted for his birthday.......a camera. Now that is right up my alley. After months of research he chose a Samsung NX300 and was intent on telling everyone that he will not even have to take it out of the box as it will produce 'spectacular images of the world around me' without having to touch a button. Needless to say Mick and I took the mickey out of him for months on this.

So camera purchased and extra lenses from family members also purchased he was given his pride and joy this morning (I charged it yesterday for him). An entertaining morning was spent with lots of information about ISO, aperture and various functions and how easy it was to sync to his Samsung phone. (I am waiting for him to decide he needs a Samsung tablet and I will then get an iPad mini!) He emailed me photos straight from the camera which to my amusement came up as 'Apple Mail thinks this email is junk' (well it would wouldn't it - it is Samsung after all?)

I did however allow him to take some portrait shots of me once I had done hair and makeup! Off to lunch we went at our favourite place in Ballarat - Jacksons and Co. Nick even had a couple of beers at lunch - not something normally done at lunch for him. Our meal as usual was fantastic although my eyes were bigger than my stomach and we have taken some home for our tea tonight.

Happy birthday my gorgeous husband - just remember you can have between 8.00 and 8.30pm each night on my photography desk ;)
