Sorry Girls This One's Taken

Of late I have not been myself and we have just discovered that my illness last year has left me gluten sensitive (after eating hokkin noodles the other night I looked like I was going to give birth to child number 4!) so we decided that today would be day 1 of gluten free to get my body back to doing what it is told. Last night my dear husband asked when I was 'due on' (to use his terminology of our female time of the month) so onto my trusty app (I truly would be lost without my iPhone!) and told him 'in a few days'. It then left my mind with the random thought that Nick wanted to know when to put away the good glasses and put on his suit of armour to deflect the saucepans flying his way with my bouts of PMT.

Grocery shopping today took longer than normal due to checking all things for gluten - luckily we buy very little food in the centre of the supermarket the majority being fresh vegetables and meat - and Nick was in and out of other shops rushing back to the car with a secret smile on his face. I know my husband well enough to know that he was planning something pretty special and while I was clearing out our pantry of all the gluten products and putting the groceries away he was squirrelled away in the spare room whistling to himself.

Out onto the coffee table appeared a box with Nick smiling and the comment 'This is your five day survival box!'. Well loving presents (and doesn't everyone) I opened the box to be greeted with lots of parcels inside. Not knowing what I have done to deserve this Nick told me it was my 'comfort box' something to help make those dreaded five days of the month more pleasant. This guy is really one in a million and I would not swap him for the world.

So what was in the box............
(sorry for the rather rushed photos I was understandably like a kid in a candy store....)

 The Box

Coffee - A lifesaver and my favourite flavours (at least it was until half an hour ago when Nick found that coffee isn't gluten free.....)

Woodwick candle Bakery Cupcake Orange Gingersnap Coffee Cake - these candles are amazing with a wooden wick they crackle and oh my they may be a bit on the pricey side but they do last and so does the aroma.

Grown Alchemist - Hand Wash (Sweet Orange Cederwood & Sage)/Hand Cream (Vanilla & Orange Peel)/Lip-balm (Watermelon & Vanilla) - a new brand on me but the lip balm is gorgeous and smooth and a little on the hand cream goes a long way with a fresh smell. They are also the most healthiest cosmetics I have ever come across being certified organic, not tested on animals and earth friendly......give them a try.

About Time - by the writer of Love Actually......need I say anymore? A chick flick that I will enjoy being curled up watching.

Lindt & Senz Chocolate - a definite must during those five days of the month and will be much enjoyed with the coffee and movie.

Necessities - well given that this is what the box is all about I was pleasantly surprised that I would not have to remember these on the next trip to the supermarket.

I did state after opening all this that he had set himself a precedent and I would be expecting to see the box every month to which he replied 'this was the deluxe package you only get this once a year the rest of the year will be a jar of international roast, a tea light candle, bottle of radox, a single bar of Cadbury's and my copy of Star Wars Episode 4..........'

And I will still not swap him for the world (I am on the other hand open to hiring him out........)
