Week 31 | 2014

I feel as if I have been constantly travelling this week. I am getting very used to working out of airports and hotel rooms and although it feels quite lonely at times I do enjoy seeing different parts of the world. This week was Albury and then Sydney to which they both granted me fabulous weather in contrast to Ballarat.

My 365 photo was also picked by @its_my_week for #myweekofminimalv

Some more shots from Sydney and its glorious sunshine.

August will keep me firmly at home (well at this point in time) but very busy at work. I am hoping the weather will start to warm up as I came back to snow on Friday and frozen pipes both yesterday and this morning due to frost. Hoping the gym doesn't have frozen pipes tomorrow morning!

I came across an article written by a very talented photographer David duChemin regarding social media this week whilst browsing the net which touched a nerve to me. You can read his article here. I fully admit I have never been a big social media person however I seem to get 'sucked' in every now and again and would hate to add up all the time I have checked FB to see if anyone has commented. A few weeks ago I had a clear up of my iPhone and iPad and actually deleted the FB app from it I have now been days where I have not checked it online and the little numbers that appear on the app no longer taunt me with comments made or invites to games. The main things I do share to FB are from Instagram and are shared mainly for staff/students use. I realise that it might seem hypocritical for me to be ignoring FB when Instagram is owned by the same corporation however it is a completely different media and one where pictures of coffee are appreciated and accepted. At no time have I ever put up a picture where I have been upset that it hasn't been liked by anyone other than 'he who must be obeyed' I am able to look at it objectively and if I still like the photo and others don't then they cannot see what I can see in it. Admittedly I have put up some rubbish pics over the year when rushing to get a photo for the 365 but that was my choice.

Enough rambling for a Sunday morning I think and please don't think that I am saying everybody who sits on FB all day shouldn't. Its just not for me............Instagram is.
